Peseiro Will Decide New Super Eagles Contract – NFF Excos

An NFF Executive Committee meeting has concluded that Jose Peseiro (PICTURED) will be the one to decide on a new contract as coach of the Super Eagles.

The Exco Meeting was a virtual one Sunday, www.insideglasshouse.com further gathered.

Peseiro’s initial contract signed in May 2022 was tied to the 2023 AFCON, which has since been delayed till Janauary 2024.

The Portuguese coach will have his contract renewed were he to qualify Nigeria to the semifinal of the AFCON.

Therefore, the shift in the AFCON till next year has boxed the NFF in a corner as they would most likely face a serious legal challenge should they now sack the coach before the tournament.

Some of the Executive Committee Members favour the immediate dismissal of the coach, but besides the legal implication of this, the federation will also have to make available his unpaid salaries running into several months.

This is why the NFFbosses have now thrown the whole matter to negotiations of a new contract.

The NFF have made it very clear to Peseiro and his representatives that they cannot afford the $70,000 a month salary he is currently on and will want him to accept a huge pay cut for the new deal to kick in.
