BELIEVE IT OR NOT! Shehu Dikko Won’t Give Up Fight To Head Nigeria League Again

The Management Boards for the second-tier Nigeria National League (NNL), the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) and the Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) have been reconstituted by the NFF, but that of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) has yet to be.

Could this be because of the lobbying and intensive pressure Shehu Dikko has directed at NFF President Ibrahim Gusau to re-appoint him to run the country’s top league?

Shehu Dikko was Chairman of the now defunct League Management Company (LMC), which took the domestic league many years backwards because of corruption, incompetence, serious integrity issues as well as offering little or no value to the clubs and players.

He has maintained that the scrapping of the LMC was a personal vendetta by the former Sports Minister Sunday Dare.

And now in his desperate bid to get his job back, he got the Emir of Zaria, where he hails from, to arrange an appointment for him with the newly-ekected Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt.Hon Tajudeen Abbas.

It is now left to be seen whether the Speaker has put through a direct call to the NFF President, whose Executive Committee Members have already given their blessings for IMC Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye and COO Davidson Owumi to continue the great job they started after they delivered a hitch-free competition that ensured some financial benefits for the clubs, for the first time in six years.

The coming days and weeks should be very interesting in this regard…
