NFF ELECTIONS: ‘Tough’, ‘Hard’ Decisions Coming Discloses Sports Minister

Sports Minister Sunday Dare has hinted that “some tough and hard decisions” will have to be taken concerning the NFF Elections planned for Friday in Benin City.

The Sports Minister told the 11 NFF Presidential aspirants Tuesday in Abuja that he will meet with President Muhammadu Buhari today at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting to brief him on the NFF Elections, but stopped short of giving away any other information.

President Buhari has directed the NFF to enlarge the Congress so as to be more representative and reduce the perennial power tussles that have taken Nigeria Football backwards.

This has yet to be adhered to by the football federation and the body language is they are not interested in diluting their powers.

A court order has stopped the polls, but NFF have insisted on going ahead even at the risk of being charged for Contempt of Court, which carries a prison sentence.

There have also been fears over the security of the Election venue after two different groups warned of violence there.

Speculations are rife what the Federal Government plans to do, but indications are that by this afternoon the direction it will take will be a lot clearer.
