So-Called ‘Jagaban Of Nigeria Football’ Aminu Kurfi Escapes Impeachment
Aminu Kurfi Balele aka Dan Arewa (PICTURED) has been credited with resolving the impasse between the NFF Executive Committee led by Amaju Pinnick and the ‘Concerned FA Chairmen’ that has since led to the road map for the NFF Elections in Benin City later this month.
Such was his influence that he was even nicknamed ‘Jagaban of Nigeria Football’ after the bulldozing APC Presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.
But it must also be reported today that Kurfi barely escaped a palace coup at the Katsina Football Association, where he is Chairman.
He has been removed from the public glare until his appearance at the dinner organised by NFF Presidential candidate Ibrahim Gusau Tuesday night in Abuja.
The reason was that he had to use all within his arsenal to survive impeachment by his Excos.
‘Dan Arewa’ had to dash off to Kano by private jet by 1am to convene an emergency meeting during which he did everything to placate his executives not to remove him from office especially at such an auspicious time as now with the NFF Elections fast approaching.
He begged his Excos to cease fire, even though some still believe another plot is brewing to still take him out.
It is public knowledge that Katsina Governor Aminu Masari, who ironically he served as Senior Special Adviser, does not support him and may even have been the unseen hand behind this impeachment drama.
The bigger implication is that even his ambition to be elected a member of the House of Representatives is hanging in the balance because he does not enjoy the support of Governor Masari.
