Olapade, Uchegbulam Reject Committee Appointments
Amid the hue and cry over the poor quality of Members of the various Sub-Committees appointed by the NFF, top Nigeria Football technocrats Bukola Olapade (PICTURED) and Amanze Uchegbulam have rejected their appointments.
Olapade, who is also a Marketing Consultant to the NFF, said his hands are full on various other fronts and as such he cannot fully discharge his responsibilities as a Member of the Marketing/Sponsorship Committee.
“With due respect, I appreciate the Nigeria Football Federation under the leadership of Ibrahim Gusau, but at the moment engagements won’t allow me to function as a committee member,” he explained.
However, his withdrawal may not be unconnected with the fact that the Chairman of the committee, Sharif Inuwa Ahlan, does not have the expertise for the post and despite his rich track record Olapade was not considered for at least the Vice-Chairmanship of the committee.
Uchegbulam, who was previously NFF 1st Vice President and served on the CAF committee for many years, turned down the opportunity to work on the ad-hoc Facilities Committee.
He said a “younger and competent” person should be appointed in his place.
“I have been serving on several committees of both the NFF and CAF since 1994 and I think I should allow the younger ones…” he said while rejecting the appointment.
