Remo Stars Owner Soname Blasts Deputy Governor Shaibu After Threat To Withdraw Insurance From NPFL
Owner of Remo Stars Kunle Soname (PICTURED) has fired a loaded salvo at Deputy Governor of Edo State Philip Shuaibu, who has threatened to withdraw Bendel Insurance from the NPFL over a Disciplinary Committee ruling that favoured Remo Stars.
Philip Shaibu has threatened that Insurance will pull out of the league should reinstated three points and three goals for Remo Stars stand after they were earlier deducted for crowd incident during an NPFL game against Gombe United.
Shaibu told Channels TV Edo State-owned Insurance will withdraw from the league should the safety of both referees and players not be guaranteed.
However, in a quick reaction, Remo Stars owner Soname tore at the Deputy Governor.
“This is the unbecoming of a Governor of a state!!! I dare him him to pull his team out of the league,” he raged on social media.
“How I wish this guy does not hold an exalted office, this is someone that does not invest a dime of his into the game and grandstanding with taxpayers’ money. I dare him again to pull his team out. Enough of this rubbish! Deputy
“We all know how Insurance got to where they are. The chairperson of the referees’ appointment committee, Faith Irabor, is an employee of the Edo State Government, the owners of Insurance.”
He added: “That was how they came to Remo two seasons ago and assaulted our CEO. Why did he tell us what led to the fracas he was referring to?
“They have come to Remo this season and got a draw and nothing happened.”
The Deputy Governor has been thrust into the mainstream of Nigeria football politics since the emergence of Ibrahim Gusau as NFF President.
He has even been nicknamed “The new Sheriff of Nigeria Football” as a result.
It is a well known fact that Shaibu financed Gusau’s Election as NFF boss leading to many posers about recent happenings in Nigeria football that compromised the game’s integrity.
