‘Anointed’ Sani Zubairu New NRA President, Main Rival Omeiza Back As Secretary General

Sani Zubairu, who has been endorsed by NFF President Ibrahim Gusau and by extension his caucus, has been elected as new President of the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA), while his main rival for the top post, Suleiman Omeiza, stepped down to retain the position of Secretary General.

Sani Zubairu ‘FIFA’ from Bauchi State (PICTURED right) polled 53 votes at the NRA Elective Congress in Ilorin, Kwara State, Daniel Olokor did not get a vote, while one vote was declared void.

The retired FIFA referee was Deputy President of the past administration.

His mandate is for four years.

Omeiza, who enjoys the backing of the outgoing NRA President Tade Azeez and a camp that includes former NFF Vice President Seyi Akinwunmi, stepped down from the Presidential race on Manifesto Night on the eve of Saturday’s Elections.

He was unopposed as several key positions were also.
