Bayelsa United In Danger Of Missing Out On New NPFL Season Over Club Licensing

Promoted Bayelsa United may not feature in the NPFL in the new season over failure to meet up to the Club Licensing requirements.

Bayelsa United have won promotion back to the top flight after many years in the lower league.

However, their huge debt profile runs counter to new Club Licensing requirements and thus disqualifies a club from featuring in the top division.

The debts include 15 Million Naira being outstanding payment to Nembe City FC over the transfer of three players since 2014.

The players in question are Ebitimi Agogo, Sobomabo West and Opubo Japhet.

Nembe City have said they will make a formal complaint to the IMC in this respect.

The new NPFL season will kick off on January 8, 2023, with Bayelsa United at home to Dakkada FC in Division B of the abridged championship.
