LMC CEO Davidson Owumi Still In Limbo

One of Nigeria’s best football administrators of our time and ex- international, Davidson Owumi, who was grudgingly appointed the CEO designate of the NPFL since October 2020 at the instance of Hon. Minister of sports and youth development Sunday Dare by the NFF.

This appointment was further ratified by the last NFF Congress in Benin City, Edo State, and subjected to further ratification again by the inconsequential Club Owners Association/LMC Congress, a rudderless group that has never stood out to protect the interest of professional clubs in Nigeria, but assisted Shehu Dikko and his LMC in no small measure in plunging the NPFL in its current state.

Inspite of the three levels of authorities that ratified Davidson Owumi’s appointment, Owumi entered the Guinness Book of records as the longest appointed CEO designate.

Almost 18 months after his appointment Davidson Owumi, a product of the ex-Footballers Bloc, an astute football administrator endowed with massive contents to turn the NPFL around is still in limbo.

This writer can tell you for free that Davidson Owumi is not in charge of NPFL.

The many bridges built by the Pinnick/Dikko pact are still keeping Owumi at bay and Owumi remains at his base in Enugu.

Deliberately no paraphernalia of office was allocated for him to work with – no office, no car, no accommodation.

Feelers from the Dikko camp said Shehu Dikko, a convict of the Federal High Court in Jos running away from the long arms of the law, remains the Executive Chairman of the NPFL and the contraption called the called the LMC currently heading for receivership due to bankruptcy occasioned by massive looting of millions of United States Dollars NPFL sponsorship money.

Until the Amaju Pinnick-led NFF Board resigns or forced out of office Nigeria Football will never see progress.

It’s time to take our Football back.
