QATAR 2022 DISASTER: Is Sunday Dare Shielding Amaju Pinnick?

Hon. Minister of Youth Development and Sports Sunday Dare may have jettisoned his statutory role as head of the supervising ministry of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Contrary to the current mood of the nation over the Qatar 2022 World Cup ouster of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, it seems the Hon. Minister just patted Pinnick and his Board on the back and simply urged them to continue with their streak of failures.

It is very disappointing that Nigerians never saw any evidence of a stern warning offering Pinnick and his Board the option to save Nigeria Football by resigning with immediate effect.

It is a shame that what Nigerians were told as the outcome of the meeting was an endorsement by the Minister for Pinnick and his group to proceed with their inglorious journey by appointing new coaches for the various national teams.

PINNICK MUST GO

This business as usual is unacceptable.

Since assumption of office Sunday Dare has never demonstrated capacity to curb the excesses of the Pinnick-led NFF Board, a situation that brought Nigeria Football to its current situation.

What is between Dare and Pinnick?

There must be something between Dare and Pinnick that is not known to Millions of Nigerians.

In the history of Nigerian sports no Minister of Sports would have tolerated the excesses of Amaju Pinnick. No sports Minister would sit on the sidelines to see an over bearing NFF President render all NFF staff jobless most of whom are paid from the Federal Government purse.

Today, Pinnick is everything and NFF personified, spokesperson, Chief coach, chief scouting officer, accountant, welfare officer, protocol officer etc.

These are despite of the streak of failures by all the national teams and ongoing obliteration of the domestic leagues.

The disposition of Hon. Sunday Dare towards Nigeria Football is most disappointing.

Nigeria Football stakeholders must therefore take their destiny in their own hands and enforce a change through constitutional means.

This is also a pointer to the fact that the Ministerial Master Plan committee is cosmetic, just another ploy to buy time by the Hon. Minister.
