THE HARRISON JALLA PERSPECTIVE: 5 Wasted Years of Gernot Rohr And His Dubious Contracts

The NFF President Amaju Pinnick must be held responsible and accountable for the waste of Nigeria’s hard-earned resources on coach Gernot Rohr (PICTURED) in the last five years.

Nigeria never deserved a coach like Gernot Rohr, not with the growing list of talented Nigerian footballers all over Europe and the underserved resources splashed on a third-rate coach.

A leader that is not open to advice must fail.

What is the business of NFF President with the recruitment of national team coaches? What is the function and duty of the NFF technical and development committee?

Pinnick’s purported trip to London to seal a deal with another third-rate coach is a bid to embark on another inglorious journey of serial failure and this is unacceptable.

Where is the Minister of Sports?

Honourable Sunday Dare, Amaju Pinnick has killed Nigeria Football under your watch.

As the Supervising Minister of Sports, the NFA ACT 2004 gives you absolute powers to regulate and control the administration of Football in Nigeria particularly as the Pinnick-led NFF Board has crossed the redline and are very determined to completely destroy Nigeria Football.

It is not within the purview of a football federation President to hire or recruit coaches for the national teams.

The Pinnick-led NFF Board is like a headless chicken that cannot get its priorities right.

What Nigeria really needs now is a consortium of indigenous coaches to breed and nature the super young talents Nigeria has at the moment to a world-class team.

It is time to assemble coaches from the Super Eagles class of 1994 and 1996.

Nigeria can invest and raise world-class coaches from this generation of ex-internationals that are technically inclined.

We already have the likes of Sunday Oliseh, Daniel Amokachi, Emmanuel Amuneke, Austin Eguavoen, Finidi George,  Salisu Yusuf, Ndubuisi Egbo, and Eddy Dombraye.

A focused federation should have tried to get the best out of these ex-internationals.

The driving force of the Footballers Bloc when we take over control and command of football administration in the country  from 2022 would be to rebuild Nigeria Football from the grassroots, strengthen and restucture all the tiers of Nigeria domestic  leagues (NPFL, NNL, NWL) etc, including state leagues to viability.

The Pinnick Board has just only nine months in office and the earlier the Hon. Minister takes immediate steps to halt their excesses, the better for Nigeria Football.
