How Seyi Akinwunmi Plans To Be NFF President 2026

Former NFF 1st Vice President Seyi Akinwunmi (PICTURED) has mapped out his plans to finally lead Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) come the next polls in 2026.

Akinwunmi’s ambition to be NFF President last year was dashed when he was roundly beaten by Ibrahim Gusau in Benin City despite having a huge war chest for the polls that included a donation of 150 Million Naira from the Lagos State Government and $300,000 from Remo Stars owner Kunle Soname.

The Barrister of Law has kept in constant touch with his Nemesis Gusau in the hope that he could get back on the NFF Executive Committee as NFF 2nd Vice President as Chairman of the NPFL.

Akinwunmi has stepped down as Lagos FA Chairman after 12 years and now hopes to install Nigeria Referees Association (NRA) boss, Tade Azeez, as successor.

He also hopes to take a firm grip of the SouthWest by heading the Western State Football Forum, which has since appointed his die-hard loyalist and Ogun FA Chairman Ganiyu Majekodunmi as Co-ordinator.

However, his biggest trump card for his presidential aspiration is the incoming Federal Government led by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he has made serious inroads there to be very confident that the new men at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa will endorse him for the top post in Nigeria Football three years from now.
