Battle Line Drawn After NFF Executives Shun Golden Eaglets Victory Party By Sports Minister

There is now no doubting the fact that the battle line has been drawn between the NFF and Sports Minister Sunday Dare especially after his “love letter” conveying the orders of President Muhammadu Buhari for reforms and Elections to be conducted in September.

That was why there was not a single NFF Executive Committee Member when the Sports Minister hosted the victorious Golden Eaglets in Abuja on Monday.

The football federation were only represented by management staffers – General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi and Director of Communications Ademola Olajire.

1st Vice President Seyi Akinwunmi was in Abuja, so too 2nd Vice President Shehu Dikko, who is resident in the capital city, but neither men found the event worth their time.

The NFF have not hidden their opposition to President Buhari’s directives that the NFF Congress be more representative to accommodate more Stakeholders before Elections to the Executive Committee in September, when the tenure of the Amaju Pinnick-led administration will end.

A top NFF official has described the Minister’s letter as “an invitation to anarchy”.

This comes after the NFF leadership is forever grumbling that it was the Sports Minister who directly managed the budget for the Super Eagles ill-fated World Cup playoffs against Ghana.
