State FA Chairmen Risk Jail For Contempt Of Court Over NFF Budget Approval

All FA Chairmen of the 36 states and FCT now risk being thrown into jail for contempt of court should they approve the NFF audited accounts 2020 as well as 2022 budget through the back door.

www.insideglasshouse.com can exclusively reveal that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) leadership has undertaken a plot for the NFF Congress to approve the federation’s audited accounts of 2020 and budget for the New Year electronically.

This is even after a Federal High Court in Yenagoa ruled against the NFF Annual General Assembly (AGA) in December, which only has the statutory right to do this approval.

The NFF secretariat sent an email to one of the FA Chairmen in the SouthSouth, who in turn got across to the entire NFF Congress also electronically, demanding that they send their approval for the audited accounts and budget.

The mail dated January 8, 2022, read thus:

“Urgent reminder concerning the audited account 2020 and budget proposal 2022

Dear all,

I have been directed to send this as a REMINDER for those that are yet to respond to the audited account 2020 and budget proposal 2022 of the Nigeria Football Federation for your perusal and approval.”

Interestingly, the email boldly carried the full address of the Nigeria Football Federation, Sunday Dankaro Football House, Package B, MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, Nigeria.

A specimen of this email message sent to the various State FA Chairmen has already been forwarded to the Federal High Court in Yenagoa.  

This is in direct and flagrant defiance by the NFF to an order by a competent Nigerian court and could now be punished with a contempt of court charge against the NFF Congress.

The sentence is jail time.

www.insideglasshouse.com has variously reported that according to the NFF Statutes 2010, the NFF Executive Committee does not have the power to approve the audited accounts as well as the budget of the NFF as that power is vested solely in the NFF Congress, which is made up of 37 State FA Chairmen and seven other stakeholders.
