Pinnick Begs Sports Minister: Appoint Me On 2026 World Cup Committee

Former NFF President Amaju Pinnick (PICTURED) has gone down on his knees to beg Sports Minister John Enoh to appoint him on a four-man committee that will supervise the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign of the Super Eagles.

Pinnick in his so-called “secret meeting” with the Sports Miniter last week in Abuja proposed the committee be headed by the Minister with NFF President Ibrahim Gusau and General Secretary the other members of this special body to ensure Nigeria qualify for the 2026 World Cup to be hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico.

FIFA Council member Pinnick, it has been learnt, wants to return as NFF President after his third-term ambition was booted out and he was forced to “install” Gusau as his successor.

He is therefore doing everything to get closer to the Government of the day.

The Super Eagles got off to a faltering start in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers after they drew 1-1 with both Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

They are third in their qualifying group with two points.

The qualifiers will resume in June next year with the Eagles home to South Africa before playing away to Benin Republic.

Rwanda head the group with four points after two rounds of matches.
