Gusau Approves Ikpeme To Replace Sanusi As NFF General Secretary, Sarma Deputy GS

Several credible sources have confirmed that NFF President Ibrahim Gusau and Sports Minister Sunday Dare have come to an agreement for Mohammed Sanusi to be replaced by his long-term deputy Emmanuel Ikpeme (PICTURED) as NFF General Secretary, while Gombe FA Chairman Yakubu Sarma will be the new NFF No 2 at the Sunday Dankaro House.

However, these appointments will need the blessing of the entire NFF Executive Committee.

Ikpeme is the proverbial cat with nine lives after he returned to the NFF Secretariat thanks to the intervention of former Sports Solomon Dalung when he had pitched his tent with the Chris Giwa group at the height of the power struggle in the closing months of Pinnick’s first term.

The one-time university lecturer is a system’s man, who will not rock the boat and would be very happy to work for the establishment if that will guarantee his job.

Gombe FA boss Sarma has been proposed as Ikpeme’s assistant.

He was earlier designated as Chief of Staff to Gusau, but will now carry the tag of Deputy General Secretary Special Duties.

He gained prominence since the election of Gusau as NFF President.

He was an energetic foot soldier during the electioneering campaign and has enjoyed the full support of the new President’s inner circle.
