SouthEast Marginalised Cries Out Obinna Ogba

The SouthEast Zone is again being marginalized and not carried along by the rest of the Nigeria Football polity, according to Senator and one-time NFF Vice President Obinna Ogba.

Ogba challenged the current leadership of the NFF for sidelining the SouthEast as it remains the only geo-political region having only one representative on the NFF Executive Committee.

Confusion at last year’s NFF Elections in Benin City caused the SouthEast to only have one elected representative, NFF 1st Vice President Felix Anyansi-Agwu, with the promise that this anomaly will subsequently be corrected.

However, more than seven months after the polls in Benin City, the situation has not changed.

Ogba made known his disappointment with this development on the sidelines of the NFF Executive Committee meeting earlier this week in Abuja.

Observers say his protest may have been what caused the NFF Board to announce this week they will soon constitute new managements for the NNL, NWFL and NLO.

It is understood that one of the Chairmanship positions of the leagues will be zoned to the SouthEast so that the representation on the Executive Committee will fall in line with what is stipulated by the NFF Statutes.
