Appeal Court Rules On Gusau NFF Presidency

The Appeal Court sitting in Abuja is expected to soon rule on last year’s NFF Elections, which produced Ibrahim Gusau (PICTURED) as President and a new Executive Committee.

The court stayed an injunction of the Federal High Court in Abuja granted for the September 30 polls in Benin City.

This ruling allowed for the polls to go ahead even against the position of the PFAN, the Players’ Union, that the Appeal Court does not have the jurisdiction to do so.

The NFF have since put up a motion seeking the leave of the court to appeal.

An observer said this is “putting the cart before the horse” as the football federation ought to have done that at the High Court level.

Both the NFF and the players union will argue their positions on February 28, 2023, after which the Appeal Court will rule.

Should the court revert the matter to the lower court, all the results of the NFF Elections will be voided and hence fresh Elections.
