Appeal Court Rules On Whether It Can Stay Injunction Against NFF Elections

The Appeal Court sitting in Abuja is set to rule on whether or not it has the jurisdiction to order a stay on an injunction granted against the NFF Elections last month by a lower court.

Last month, the players’ union PFAN secured an injunction from the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja stopping the NFF Elections fixed for September 30, 2022, in Benin City.

However, the NFF moved to the Appeal Court to stay this order and went ahead to conduct Elections, which produced Ibrahim Gusau as new NFF President.

PFAN has argued that the higher court does not have the jurisdiction to do this in its preliminary objection.

Should the court rule in their favour, the players union could seek to have the results of the Elections in Benin City annulled and once again throw Nigeria Football into a fresh crisis.

The players’ union has vowed to take this matter all the way to the Supreme Court.
