Gusau: Super Eagles To Be No 10 In The World

Newly elected NFF President Ibrahim Gusau has said his target is to get the Super Eagles (PICTURED in action) to be among the top 10 teams in the world during his four years in office.

The Super Eagles are No 32 in the FIFA Rankings and fourth best team in Africa by the latest rankings released this week by FIFA.

“My own aspiration is that within my four years in office, I want the Super Eagles to be ranked at least No 10 in the world and No 1 in Africa,” he revealed in an interview on Eagle7 FM Radio today.

“I believe with hard work and the support of everyone we can achieve these targets.”

He further said his administration will focus on grassroots development and the various leagues, while embarking on a vigorous marketing drive.

“The emphasis will be on grassroots development and the domestic leagues so that home-based players could be fully involved in the Super Eagles as well,” he said.

“We need a robust league that will be on television.

“We are also aware of the economic meltdown around the world and the crash of the Naira and so it won’t be easy because as much as 80% of our programmes involve foreign exchange and so we have to adopt a vigourous marketing strategy.”
