NFF Congress Risks Contempt Of Court As Football Federation Yet To Vacate Injunction Against Elections

Delegates of the NFF Congress and all former NFF Executive Committee members now risk Contempt of Court charges should the football federation go ahead with Elections in Benin City on September 30.

The immediate consequence of Contempt of Court is committal to prison and those so convicted will be barred from holding public office.

This revelation is contrary to rumours that the NFF have vacated the injunction stopping the Elections on Friday next week.

Lawyers fired an application of urgency to the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, but now face a serious race against time to dismiss the court order as they only filed a counter to it on Thursday.

The counsel for the claimants will be expected to respond to their claims within seven (7) days after which a date will be slated for both parties to argue their positions and after which the court will rule on the matter.
