NFF Vice President Akinwunmi Declares For NFF Presidency

NFF 1st Vice President and Lagos FA Chairman Seyi Akinwunmi (PICTURED) will on Tuesday in Abuja formally declare his interest to succeed Amaju Pinnick as NFF President.

Akinwunmi has planned a cocktail in Abuja on that day to announce his interest and share his vision for Nigeria Football.

A lawyer by profession, Akinwunmi has been Nigeria Football No 2 man for the past eight years.

In personal letters to fellow NFF Congress members, he enjoined them to join him on the journey to elevate Nigeria Football to world class.

A driving force in the South West, he has championed youth football development in the country through the Zenith Bank U15 Programme that has produced some of the country’s exciting young talents like Tijani Samson of Red Bull Salzburg and Akinkunmi Amoo from FC Copenhagen.

His own foundation has also further empowered the youth.

It is understood that he has the support of the ruling party APC with suggestions that Sports Minister Sunday Dare has also given his aspiration his blessing.

A wealthy club owner in the South West has pledged to make resources available to his campaign.

Lately, he has had a cat and mouse relationship with the incumbent NFF President Pinnick.
