Controversy Rages, Tension Mounts After NFF Emergency General Assembly Snubs PFAN

Even before the August 16 NFF Emergency General Assembly in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State,  bad blood has already been caused after the NFF controversially left out the country’s recognised players Union, PFAN, and instead invited a rival group that was midwifed by NFF President Amaju Pinnick.

PFAN, which is led by former international Tijjani Babangida (PICTURED), has now vowed to go all out to fight its exclusion from the General Assembly.

PFAN rival group ANFPU was also the one invited for the NFF AGA in December 2021, which was eventually aborted due to an order by the Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa.

It is therefore no surprise that NFF Executive Committee led by Pinnick has now recognised ANFPU, which was birthed by another former Super Eagles player, Chikelue Iloenyosi, and fully supported by the embattled NFF President.

Incidentally, Iloenyosi has now been “appointed” Anambra FA Chairman against all norms and due process.

Close watchers have also warned that admitting an illegal body like the ANFPU will nullify the decisions and proceedings of the General Assembly.
