NEW CONTROVERSY: NFF Name Chikelue Iloenyosi Anambra FA Chairman

Almost two years after Elections to the Executive Committee of the Anambra State FA (ANSFA) and as the countdown to the NFF Elections steps up, the NFF today controversially endorsed Chikelue Iloenyoesi (PICTURED first right) as the elected ANSFA Chairman.

The NFF said this recognition takes immediate effect from today,  July 28, 2022.

In a letter  signed by Onoja Joshua on behalf of the NFF General Secretary and addressed to the Anambra FA Secretary, the NFF ruled that the Appeals Committee for the ANSFA polls erred by directing the Electoral Committee to conduct another Election to fill the vacant position of Chairman within 14 days from November 16, 2020.

The NFF also argued that the Electoral Committee erred by asking Delegates to vote for or against a sole candidate for a post.

The football federation further stated that the Appeals Committee ought to have set aside that procedure and declare the unopposed candidate duly returned and elected.

The NFF recognition comes at a time when Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has already obtained a court judgment in his favour in respect of the Chairmanship of the ANSFA.

Controversial ex-international Iloenyoesi is a personal aide of NFF President Amaju Pinnick.

He was the man Pinnick used to midwife a faction of the players’ union to rival PFAN.
