Pinnick Fires Back: I will Go Away With My Sponsors

It’s most certainly a season of wailing and gnashing of teeth for Amaju Pinnick as the countdown to his disastrous two-term tenure at the head of Nigeria Football has begun in earnest.

Pinnick has among other things now told Stakeholders that if he has to leave office, he will do so with “all my sponsors”.

This is in an angry reaction to an ultimatum issued to him by a majority 28 FA Chairmen to call for an NFF General Assembly.

Critics have argued that this is yet another example of how much Pinnick has so personalized the NFF and Nigeria Football.

Interestingly, however even before he has carried out his threat, several of the sponsors have already stopped doing business with the NFF.

The Aiteo Group, which has the biggest sponsorship deals with the NFF, will not extend its relationship with the football federation as the contracts have run out.

It has further been gathered that Coca-Cola will also not renew its sponsorship with the NFF after the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
