Major Age Scandal Rocks Golden Eaglets Again

Yet another major age scandal has hit the Nigeria U17 team, the Golden Eaglets, after a staggering 80% of the players failed the mandatory age test.

Some of the players affected included two from the NNL side Giant Brillars, who Eaglets coach Nduka Ugbade handles.

“Coach Ugbade will have to start his screening almost from the scratch after this mass failure,” a top team official lamented.

This massive setback is coming less than a month to the U17 AFCON qualifying tournament in Ghana, where the Eaglets are drawn in Group A along with the host country.

This latest age scandal again underlines the administrative incompetence at the NFF secretariat and it also comes at a huge cost as millions of Naira were sunk to conduct the test.

An age test costs about 130,000 Naira.
