EXCLUSIVE: Family Of Dead CAF Official Disagree Over Cause Of Death
www.insideglasshouse can exclusively report that a nine-man party from Zambia will storm Nigeria in the next few days to ascertain the actual cause of the death of a CAF official, Joseph Kabungo, in Abuja during a 2022 World Cup playoff clash between the Super Eagles and Ghana.
This was after the family of the former doctor of the Zambia national team disagreed with the official story that Kabungo may have died from a sudden cardiac arrest.
They insist on an autopsy.
The party from Zambia will include his family doctor as well as a pathologist.
They are expected to enter Nigeria with a visa on arrival.
Initial reports following his death suggested that he was killed by angry fans who stormed the pitch after Nigeria failed to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.
The NFF maintained that Kabungo may have died from a heart attack.
“According to the information from our own medical officer, Dr Onimisi Ozi Salami, who was appointed by FIFA as Medical Officer for the game, Dr Kabungo was found gasping for breath near the dressing room of the Ghanaian team,” NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi was quoted in an official release.
“I was notified and ordered that he should be rushed to the hospital. He didn’t make it. He died just as they got to the hospital.”
