Akinwunmi counters Imo FA Position To Stay Away From Master Plan Committee Sitting

NFF 1st Vice President and Lagos FA Chairman Seyi Akinwunmi (PICTURED) has argued that it will be counter productive and also put the NFF in direct confrontation with the Sports Ministry should FA Chairmen fail to honour the invitation of the Master Plan Committee to present their thoughts on how to grow Nigeria Football.

The Imo State FA have said their chairman Amanze Uchegbulam will not be attending the Master Plan Committee sitting, which will begin tomorrow, because they have not been officially authorized by the NFF and it will amount to Government interference to do so without such permission.

However, Akinwunmi, who was recently drafted to the Master Plan Committee by the NFF, said he begs to differ from such a stance.

He said staying away from any process or discussion to do with the organisation of football in Nigeria will be counter productive and put the NFF on a collision course with the Sports Ministry.

He argued that they should ensure their voices are heard and that at the end of the process, the outcome of the Master Plan Committee be referred to the NFF for it to be aligned with the NFF Statutes.

He said his position has already been justified by the fact that the NFF have already presented a five-year development plan to the Sports Minister as part of the workings of the Master Plan Committee.

He said if any FA Chairman were in doubt, he should contact the General Secretary of the NFF for clarification.
