African Footballers Fire FIFA For ‘Excessive’ Interference In African Football, Dare Infantino To Ban Switzerland

An umbrella body for African footballers, the International Association of African Footballers (IAAFOOT), has condemned the undue interference by FIFA in the internal affairs of CAF and African countries.

The players’ body also challenged FIFA to suspend Switzerland after the country’s Government opened investigations on President Gianni Infantino.

In a letter personally addressed to Infantino and dated January 4, 2022,  IAAFOOT said it has noted with dismay how FIFA have not respected African countries, how they have shielded corruption in African football while also contradicting their own Statutes.

The letter was signed by the association’s chief executive, Harrison Jalla.

The players categorically condemned a recent move by FIFA and Infantino to cancel or postpone the AFCON in Cameroon.

IAAFOOT further warned that it will take its fight against FIFA to The Hague as well as courts in Europe and Africa should the world football ruling body persist with their interference in African Football.
