I Was Humiliated Laments NFF Top Shot Akinwunmi

Seyi Akinwunmi (PICTURED) is the No 2 man in charge of Nigeria Football being the NFF 1st Vice President, but this week he chaired a Southwest parley during which he openly lamented how he was humiliated by his fellow Executive Committee members while even casting huge doubts whether he will be on the plane to Cameroon for next month’s AFCON.

It was truly a House of Lamentations when the fully attended Southwest football stakeholders met Tuesday evening at the boardroom of the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos soon after the Lagos State FA Cup Finals.

A very agitated Akinwunmi told the gathering that he was asked to state his position as a member of the kitchen cabinet as well as a lawyer on how the NFF should deal with the court order aborting the NFF AGA, which incidentally he was to be the chief host.

The Lagos FA boss said they should go against the court order and go ahead with the AGA.

But unknown to him, a decision had already been taken behind his back by NFF President Amaju Pinnick and other Executive Committee members from the North like Ibrahim Gusau and Ahmed Yusuf ‘Fresh’ for the NFF to comply with the court order for fear of contempt of court.

He said this again showed he is no longer carried along when major decisions are taken by the NFF.

Such was Akinwunmi’s fury that he went on to raise alarm that as things now stand, he is not even sure he will on the contingent of officials for the AFCON in Cameroon.

That declaration could also imply that NFF Congress members may also have to watch the AFCON on television back home in Nigeria.
