Ex-Super Eagles Captain Odegbami Salutes Court Case For Equal Rep

Former Super Eagles skipper Segun ‘Mathematical’ Odegbami (PICTURED) has hailed the bold move by stakeholders of Nigeria Football to challenge in court the undemocratic and unfair composition of the NFF Congress and Executive Committee.

Players’ union members Harrison Jalla, Rumson Baribote and Austin Popo have dragged the NFF before a Federal High Court Abuja Division demanding for equal representation of the major stakeholders in both the NFF Congress and Executive Committee.

Odegbami said this move is visionary and it will lead to the installation of authentic leadership for Nigeria Football.

“This is the biggest and most important action by the Players Union, a visionary step that will restore sanity, equity and fair play to the process of installing an authentic leadership for the Nigeria Football Federation,” he said.

“It will reduce the tendencies for corruption and influence of money and politics.

“Not everyone can see what the players’ union has seen in instituting this action, but for those that know the foundations of Nigerian football and càn envision a great future, this is for the overall good of football and its future.

“The present congress cannot amend the present faulty constitution (2010 NFF Statutes) because they are beneficiaries of the anomaly in unequal representation, which is the single biggest hindrance to authentic domestic football development in the present state.

“When everyone understands this, they will embrace the implication of this desired giant step.

“This makes absolute sense.

“Well done, Players Union.”
