LMC Yet To Pay NPFL Champions Akwa United 60 Million Naira Prize Money

More than three months after Akwa United were crowned champions of the NPFL, the league organisers, the League Management Company, has yet to pay the Uyo club their prize money of 60 Million Naira.

An official admitted the LMC is facing “money problems” and so the long delay in this payment.

This past season, clubs were forced to pay the indemnities of match officials on behalf of the league organisers.

LMC staffers have also not been paid for more than a year, while a major sponsorship deal with a gaming company is now hanging in the balance after a top shot of the LMC, who was not involved in brokering the deal, demanded half of the money from the deal be paid into his own personal account.
