Players Union Dispatches Formal Ultimatum to NFF

The country’s players’ union, PFAN, has formally sent an ultimatum to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to de-recognise a rival players’ group within seven days or face an impending crisis in Nigeria Football.

In an official letter dated October 13, 2021, addressed to the NFF President Amaju Pinnick and signed by PFAN General Secretary Emmanuel Babayaro, the players’ union said it is a bonafide member of the NFF going by Article 10 of the NFF Statutes 2010 as amended.

“We are bonafide members of the Nigeria Football Federation as enshrined in Article 10 of the Nigeria Football Federation Statutes 2010 as amended which is the rule book of the NFF,” part of the letter stated.

“The Statutes recognized only one players union and assuming but not conceding that there is a breach, there are procedures in suspending and expelling a member which to the best of our knowledge there is none.”

PFAN said the purported “All Nigerian Players Union” is made up of mainly personal and support staffs of the NFF President and NFF.
