Has PFAN President Tijjani Babangida Given In To Pressure From The Top?

They say there was overwhelming pressure on the President of Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN), Tijjani Babangida, to attend the recent illegal NFF Extra-Ordinary Congress in Benin City.

Babangida’s long-time business associate who is on the board of the NFF stepped in to get the ex-Ajax Amsterdam winger to be in Benin so as to give credibility to the congress, which sought to begin a process to amend the 2010 NFF Statutes.

That pressure did not work as PFAN stuck to their guns that the congress is illegal and so did not send a representative there.

However, fast forward a few days later, it was Babangida frolicking with NFF President Amaju Pinnick at the AFCON draw ceremony in Yaounde, Cameroon.

The PFAN chief was introduced to CAF President Patrice Motsepe as promised.

And Babangida demonstrated his excitement for this recognition when he posted on Instagram he and the NFF President dancing their lives away on the private jet that flew them to Cameroon.

Has the players’ union boss finally buckled under pressure and will now do his Master’s bidding?

If yes, what happens to the fragile united front of the players’ union?
